Alexandra and Ricardo are Colombian and they decided to marry in their country of origin in the city of Cartagena de Indias, speaking of beautiful cities …

Day 1
The coverage started three days before the big day with a trip involving some of the relatives and close friends of the couple as they were arriving. The final destination was Playa Blanca on Isla Barú with some intermediate stops included a visit to the Oceanarium and a stop at the coral reefs where everyone myself included- did some snorkel.
The long day ended with an evening stroll through the old city where we did a short in promptu engagement session and visited some of the famous traditional bars like Café del Mar and Café Havana.

ESPAÑOL
Alexandra y Ricardo viven en una de las ciudades más hermosas de los Estados Unidos. Aunque todavía no conozco Chicago siento que así lo es y muy pronto me sacaré la duda -o más bien creo que comprobaré lo antes dicho- ya que estaré visitando ‘la ciudad ventosa’ muy pronto.

Alexandra y Ricardo son Colombianos y decidieron casarse en su país de origen en la ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, hablando de ciudades hermosas…

Día 1
La cobertura comenzó tres días antes del gran día con un paseo en el que participaron algunos de los familiares y amigos más cercanos de la pareja que ya iban llegando. El destino final fue Playa Blanca en Isla Barú con algunas paradas intermedias que incluyeron una visita al Oceanario y una parada en los arrecifes de coral donde todos -incluyéndome- hicimos snorkel.
El largo día finalizó con un paseo nocturno por el casco viejo de la ciudad donde realizamos una breve sesión in promptu y visitamos varios bares tradicionales y famosísimos como el Café del Mar y el Café Havana.

Day 2
My first rumba in chiva and hopefully not the last!
The “Rumba in Chiva” is a tradition in Cartagena’s night. An open bus with live music and lots of rum … guaranteed fun! And if that were not enough the final stop of the bus was the spectacular Casa de la Cerveza where Alexandra and Ricardo hosted a welcome dinner.

Día 2
Mi primer rumba en chiva y espero que no sea la última!
La ‘Rumba en Chiva’ es una tradición en las noches Cartageneras. Un bus al descubierto con músicos en vivo y ron… diversión garantizada! Y por si eso fuera poco el destino final de la chiva fue la espectacular Casa de la Cerveza donde Alexandra y Ricardo fueron los anfitriones de una cena de bienvenida.

Tengo que incluir este video capturado por René Miranda donde el vallenatero dedicó a la pareja una piquería que es un forma de trova que consiste en improvisar sobre un tema, en este caso ellos mismos… simplemente espectacular.

On April 2007 Jennifer and David got married at the beautiful Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite. Theirs was the first wedding I shot at this incredible venue and since then I’ve been back every year to shoot more couples that found out about my photography after DNC Parks & Resorts -authorized concessioner of the National Park Service- included me in their preferred vendor list.
A few days ago I found out with surprise that one of the images from Jennifer and David’s wedding had been used for the cover of one of the brochures Yosemite Weddings distributes everywhere. The photo was shot during their ceremony on the main lawn and you can see one of Yosemite’s magnificent waterfalls in the background.
It’s an incredible honor and a privilege to be able to shoot my clients in a place that many consider to be the most beautiful place on earth. Can’t wait to shoot my next wedding in Yosemite in a few weeks!

En Abril del 2007 Jennifer y David se casaron en el hermoso Hotel Ahwahnee del Parque Nacional Yosemite. La suya fue la primer boda que realicé en este increíble lugar y desde entonces he vuelto a fotografiar a otras parejas cada año varias veces por año ya que DNC Parks & Resorts -compañía que maneja la concesión del parque- me incluyó en su lista de fotógrafos preferidos luego de aquella primer boda.
Hace unos días me enteré con agrado de que una de las imágenes de la boda de Jennifer y David había sido utilizada en la portada de uno de los folletos de bodas de Yosemite Weddings. En la foto se puede observar la pareja durante la ceremonia al aire libre y en el fondo una de las espectaculares cascadas.
Es un increíble honor y un privilegio poder fotografiar a mis clientes en el que muchos consideran el lugar más hermoso del planeta. Ya estoy ansioso de fotografiar mi próxima boda allí en un par de semanas.

A couple of weeks ago I spent two consecutive weekends in Yosemite National Park shooting weddings and the second one took place at the beautiful Wawona Hotel in Fish Camp, CA.

I actually like this photo of the dress hanging inside the cabin but it would have been a sin not to take it outside being in Yosemite…

so out we went…

The ‘first look’, always special no matter when or where it happens.

Jie and Wei, thank you for inviting to to document your wedding day and for ‘dragging’ me to the place Ansel Adams said “…is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space.” -Rudy

The wedding and reception took place at the beautiful Ahwahnee Hotel and I have to give thanks once again to Don and the entire staff for their hard work to ensure every wedding is perfect. Thank you guys and keep up the good work!

It was my first time crossing path with Dr. Emily Susann and I think she did a wonderful job as the officiant.

I’m glad Wei decided to get married down here -in the valley- as opposed to up there -on top of El Capitan- where he usually goes with his rock climbing buddies, that would have been hard to follow.

This is the spot where months before during one of their rock climbing excursions Jie & Wei decided they had to get married at… and they did.

Next week I will be shooting at the Wawona Hotel for the first time, good times!

Marcos was one of the attendees to a workshop I taught in Madrid, Spain last November and we began talking about me shooting his wedding back then… as you can see we made it happen. I spent 10 days in Spain not only shooting Laura & Marcos’ wedding but also traveling. Marcos was extremely kind and treated me to a wonderful adventure. He loves traveling and he thought it was a good idea to do some tourism prior to the wedding so we crossed to Africa and visited a bunch of amazing cities but of course I’ll be posting pictures of that later. The great trip ended in Sevilla two days before the wedding where we shot this quick engagement session in the streets of this amazing city.
Antonio Garcia (AG Fotógrafo), his awesome girlfriend Yolanda and Juan Carlos were also part of the road trip, one that I’ll never forget.

Jessica and Dan live in Southern California but they decided to get married in Mexico at this very secluded jungle wedding spot called Las Caletas. This place is so remote that can only be reached by boat and as soon as we arrived at the pier to get a ride I instantly knew I was in for a treat… check out this video to see what I’m talking about…

A small group of guests arrived with us very early in the day and we all just relaxed for a few hours while getting ready for the big moment.

Champagne, fruits, sandwiches and other delicacies awaited at the cabin where the bride got ready.

The guests arriving in a much more comfortable boat but much more boring too

The location, service, food and the entire team at Vallarta Adventures were incredible! Thank you Jessica and Dan for giving me the privilege to capture your day!

Happy New Year!!!

Right after I came back from Spain I went to Puerto Vallarta to cover Jessica and Dan’s intimate wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at this very cool secluded place called Las Caletas… of course I’ll be posting more images from this cool and paradisiacal wedding but here are just a couple to get started.

Right after Puerto Vallarta I traveled to Argentina where I’m writing this blog post. While in Argentina I’ll be shooting my niece’s Quinceañera and will be teaching two workshops, one in Mendoza and one in Funes (Rosario)… talk to you soon!
