Beverly & Alex – Wedding in Yosemite

A couple of weeks ago I spent two consecutive weekends in Yosemite National Park shooting weddings and the second one took place at the beautiful Wawona Hotel in Fish Camp, CA.

Jie and Wei, thank you for inviting to to document your wedding day and for ‘dragging’ me to the place Ansel Adams said “…is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space.” -Rudy

The wedding and reception took place at the beautiful Ahwahnee Hotel and I have to give thanks once again to Don and the entire staff for their hard work to ensure every wedding is perfect. Thank you guys and keep up the good work!

It was my first time crossing path with Dr. Emily Susann and I think she did a wonderful job as the officiant.

I’m glad Wei decided to get married down here -in the valley- as opposed to up there -on top of El Capitan- where he usually goes with his rock climbing buddies, that would have been hard to follow.

This is the spot where months before during one of their rock climbing excursions Jie & Wei decided they had to get married at… and they did.

Next week I will be shooting at the Wawona Hotel for the first time, good times!

Laura & Marcos: Engagement Session in Sevilla, Spain

Marcos was one of the attendees to a workshop I taught in Madrid, Spain last November and we began talking about me shooting his wedding back then… as you can see we made it happen. I spent 10 days in Spain not only shooting Laura & Marcos’ wedding but also traveling. Marcos was extremely kind and treated me to a wonderful adventure. He loves traveling and he thought it was a good idea to do some tourism prior to the wedding so we crossed to Africa and visited a bunch of amazing cities but of course I’ll be posting pictures of that later. The great trip ended in Sevilla two days before the wedding where we shot this quick engagement session in the streets of this amazing city.
Antonio Garcia (AG Fotógrafo), his awesome girlfriend Yolanda and Juan Carlos were also part of the road trip, one that I’ll never forget.

Jessica & Dan | Las Caletas Puerto Vallarta

Jessica and Dan live in Southern California but they decided to get married in Mexico at this very secluded jungle wedding spot called Las Caletas. This place is so remote that can only be reached by boat and as soon as we arrived at the pier to get a ride I instantly knew I was in for a treat… check out this video to see what I’m talking about…

A small group of guests arrived with us very early in the day and we all just relaxed for a few hours while getting ready for the big moment.

Champagne, fruits, sandwiches and other delicacies awaited at the cabin where the bride got ready.

The location, service, food and the entire team at Vallarta Adventures were incredible! Thank you Jessica and Dan for giving me the privilege to capture your day!

Happy New Year!!!

Right after I came back from Spain I went to Puerto Vallarta to cover Jessica and Dan’s intimate wedding in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico at this very cool secluded place called Las Caletas… of course I’ll be posting more images from this cool and paradisiacal wedding but here are just a couple to get started.

Right after Puerto Vallarta I traveled to Argentina where I’m writing this blog post. While in Argentina I’ll be shooting my niece’s Quinceañera and will be teaching two workshops, one in Mendoza and one in Funes (Rosario)… talk to you soon!

Rehearsal dinner coverage at the Ahwahnee Hotel

Jill & Nick’s was my fourth wedding at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park this year and my coldest one too but I’m going to start this first part with a few photos from the rehearsal we shot the day before.

Fotografía de Casamientos en Argentina

Desde el comienzo de mi carrera como fotógrafo de casamientos tuve como meta poder documentar una boda en mi país de origen y la oportunidad llegó en Marzo del 2009. Carolina e Ian, una pareja de Argentinos viviendo en Venice Beach se enteró de mí y de mi trabajo a través de una amiga en común y luego de reunirnos para hablar de su gran día decidieron contratarme. Su boda tuvo lugar en la hermosa ciudad de Rosario, provincia de Santa Fé, Argentina y me encantó fotografiar allí.

Me gustaría mucho realizar más bodas en Argentina en diferentes ciudades como Buenos Aires, Rosario, Córdoba, Mar del Plata, Mendoza, Santa Fé, Bariloche, Cataratas del Iguazú, en la Patagonia y cualquier otro lugar por más lejano que sea. Así que si estas pensando tener tu boda por allí no dejes de contactarme. Estaré en Argentina a finales del 2009 y principios del 2010.

Aparte de haber hecho bodas en Argentina muy a menudo viajo a diferentes países para cubrir bodas de destino (destination weddings). Los lugares más populares son las ciudades de Cancún, Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta y la Riviera Maya en Mexico pero quiero seguir agregando ciudades a la lista

The first look took place at Silos Davis where the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rosario is located.

Palacio Cabanellas is a historic building in Rosario, Argentina. It was built in 1916 under the direction of Luis B. Laporte. It is one of very few examples of Modernisme (Catalan-style Art Nouveau) found in Rosario.

The religious ceremony took place at Nuestra Señora de Lourdes Rosario

Of course we couldn’t skip a visit to the gorgeous Monumento a la Bandera (National Flag Memorial). We got there after the religious ceremony around 10pm and got a bunch of photos taking advantage of the great lightning.

Instead of throwing the garter, the groom throws a bottle of whiskey to the single guys!

Sale con Fritas kept everyone jumping and dancing during their performance

Shooting Caro and Ian’s wedding was an incredible experience not only because of the location but also because of the people involved, their friends and family were amazing to ‘work’ with.

One more wedding at the Ahwahnee

I just got back from another great wedding at the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park. I’ve been shooting 3-4 weddings a year at the Ahwahnee since I first shot Jen and Dave’s wedding a few years ago. BTW they’re the beautiful couple on the banner of the official website here and they were there this weekend when I was shooting Jill and Nick’s wedding, what are the odds…

I have a bunch of weddings to post on the blog but I’ll start with one image from the latest one… Jill and Nick got married this weekend and everything was magical. J&N, thank you so much for letting me be part of your day. I can’t thank you enough for your kindness. Of course there will be more images coming soon.

This is the time I saw the most number of wild animals around the park. We had to wait for this big guy to cross the highway very slowly in front of us and at one point I saw 8 of them at the Ahwahnee’s backyard.

Everything was beautiful but cold too… that’s around 0°C and we are not used to that in SoCal

On the way back I stopped to snap a photo in front of El Capitan with my buddy Rene… being behind the camera for about 4000 shots I thought I deserved one in front of it.
